What is 365 English Lessons?
My name is Ross Harrison, and I am an English teacher, living in Japan.
I was born in the United Kingdom, but I have lived in Tokyo for the last 12 years. I enjoy teaching English in classrooms and businesses, and now I want to teach you.
I study Japanese, and find it difficult. I know what it is like to try to speak a second language. Follow my blog, and I will tell you all about my Japanese study.
Before I became an English teacher I was a professional musician in London. I play trumpet and was a trumpet teacher before I came to Japan. I still play trumpet, but not as often as I would like. However, I plan to start a music school one day!
What is 365 English Lessons?
This website was started because I know how hard it is to learn a language.
I have tried to study Japanese ever since I started living in Japan, and although I have lived here for over 12 years now, I still find it difficult…!
Everyone knows that the most important part of learning a language is the vocabulary.
A good vocabulary makes it easier to communicate exactly what you are thinking and feeling. If you have good vocabulary, but poor grammar, you can communicate quite well. However, if you have great grammar, but poor vocabulary, you cannot communicate very well. In short, vocabulary is VERY important!
In fact, it has been proven that there is a connection between vocabulary and salary. People with the best vocabulary also earn the most money. Why is this? Well, business is all about effective communication, and the most effective communicators are able to sell their ideas to business partners and clients much more easily than others. The more ideas you sell, the more money you can make.
Unfortunately, vocabulary is also one of the hardest parts of learning a new language… But the only way to do it is to do a little bit every day, 365 days a year!
Even if you only learn one new word every day, you will learn 365 new words a year. If you learn 5 new words, that number increases to 1,825 new words in one year!
That’s a lot of new words! This will be a big improvement on how well you communicate!
